Settlement With Independent Health, Up to $100 Million

Whistleblower Partners attorneys represented a whistleblower in a suit that resulted in a 2024 settlement of up to $100 million with Independent Health, a Medicare Advantage Organization in Western New York. The whistleblower alleged that Independent Health, and one of its former subsidiaries called DxID, flaunted Medicare rules and submitted improper diagnosis codes to the Medicare Advantage program, resulting in higher payments to the insurer. A separate Defendant in this whistleblower case, Group Health Cooperative, agreed to pay $6.375 million in 2020 to resolve similar allegations.  This is the fifth settlement in which Whistleblower Partners attorneys have successfully represented whistleblowers alleging risk adjustment fraud.
